A GRAND Grand Opening

On Sunday, September 10, 2017 Open Table officially opened our new facility at 33 Main Street in Maynard with a lively Grand Opening celebration. The event started with a showcase of the work of local artists who created the many healthy food-themed canvases that brighten the walls of our dining room. Many thanks to Nanri Tenney for organizing the painting sessions and curating the show, and to all of the artists for their beautiful paintings. Formal and informal tours of the facility ran throughout the day, with a Facebook live tour captured for those unable to attend the event. Guests were treated to samples of fresh produce and delectable offerings from our talented and tireless chefs. Music was provided by Workingman’s Duo.

At 2:00 the formal ceremony was emceed by Open Table Executive Director, Jeanine Calabria. Honored guests, Congresswoman Nikki Tsongas, State Senator Jamie Eldridge, State Representative Kate Hogan, and Maynard Selectman David Gavin each spoke, often with personal reflections about Open Table. They also each presented Open Table with citations and certificates of recognition. We thank these honored guests for their kind words and for their continual support of our mission. Jeanine thanked all of the Builders, Supporters and Facility Team Volunteers who were so instrumental in the design, construction, and filling of the new building.

The facility was officially opened with a community ribbon cutting. A green ribbon was unwound throughout the crowd, and all who were interested were given scissors. On the count of three, together we cut the ribbon and officially began a new chapter in the history of Open Table.

Co-Chairpersons Deena Whitfield and Patty Chambers unveiled the newly designed Open Table logo recreated in icing on a cake! Delicious carrot cake, that was enjoyed by all.
