From Empty Bowls to Full Plates

The Empty Bowls event hosted by Newbury Court was a HUGE success. Over 300 bowls were sold and over 400 cups of delicious soup were served. And all to benefit Open Table – the proceeds from the Empty Bowls will provide food to fill a lot of plates this winter!

Open Table pantry volunteer Kim Kelly and Pantry Diector Rose Saia were top bidders at the silent auction. Kim coveted the bunny-roo (a hare that Aussie Kim dubbed a kangaroo) and Rose took home this gentle elephant.

We cannot thank the wonderful artists (residents and staff), organizers, and volunteers for this wonderful event full of smiles, soup and sunshine!

Alannah Gustavson , Beth Winn and Ted Carvalho- organizers of the Empty Bowls event beam as most of the 300 Bowls made by residents had already sold within the first hour of the event.
