Even as this pandemic continues, we are fortunate to continue receiving food from the Greater Boston Food Bank, donations of food from supermarkets and farms, and money from organizations and individuals. Because of this, our guest operations continue to work, while the number of people we serve increases weekly. Thanks to you, we are still able to provide healthy food and prepared meals for all within our service area who come to us. We so appreciate your support!
But as people lose their jobs and other sources of income, more and more people are facing food insecurity. We have already seen a marked increase in the number of new guests visiting our drive-thru pantry, and are getting more requests for mobile pantry services.
To further complicate things, issues with the supply chain mean that food staples, such as eggs, dairy, and pastas, are not consistently available from our normal sources each week. While we have to date been able to feed everyone who comes, we have to purchase some items in order to assure our grocery bags include a good selection of healthy foods.
Your donations allow us to purchase the needed items that we cannot get for free. Your money helps us purchase cleaning supplies, masks & gloves, grocery bags, and other items need to pack and deliver food in a safe manner. You make a difference!
We Met Our Match for #GivingTuesdayNow!
Thanks to a very generous offer from Cambridge Savings Bank, all donations made to our EGGStraordinary Fundraiser during #GivingTuesdayNow (April 28 through May 12th) were matched (up to a $5000 total). And YOU came through! In just two weeks, we raised $18,040. And Cambridge Savings Bank has added the full $5000 match to that, for a total of $23,040. That’s a lot of money to buy more eggs, more milk, more cleaning supplies, and other things we need to continue our mission to provide healthy food to those in need. Thank you!
